Pushing myself creatively has been one of my goals recently, so I always love an opportunity to do so. So, when Katrina came to me with ideas about locations and even the use of fairy lights, I was thrilled. I couldn’t wait to incorporate her ideas with my own desire to check out some new locations and editing techniques, and although these are so modern and creative, the traditional feel of Twelfth + Grace is still present. Katrina is a very active high schooler, who is involved in multiple activities. She is the president of the American Sign Language Honor Society Club, and has helped helm activities like fundraisers, bake sales, and car washes. She also loves to do photography in her spare time and says her ideal afternoon would be at home with her puppy.
“One of my favorite memories was when I got to go to China during spring break during my Junior year with the school”, she adds, “I got to see how China culture works, and got to make new friends in the trip. I also got to make a film after my trip, to remember all the great times.” Some of her favorite classes have included Early Childhood Development, where she has gotten to study and learn more about developmental stages of children. She uses the skills that were gained to aid her in babysitting, and hopes to learn more as she studies education after high school. “I want to eventually transfer to an University after two years, to continue my studies”, she explains, “I would like to become an interpreter for the deaf community, and am always interested in filmmaking and photography.”
Her senior photography experience was something Katrina had been looking forward to, and she said, “I really hope in twenty years, that i am able to look back on the photos that you took, and the fun experience I had on the modeling team. I’d love my future children to come to you when the year comes, and I had so much fun with you and made lots of new friends.” When it comes to her future, I know this girl has so many big plans, and I know she will make them happen. She has a quote she tells herself often about how you need to work hard and stay motivated… I think it’s served her well. Congratulations, Katrina, on your amazing accomplishments thus far.
