Styled sessions are something I love and feel passionate about, because I am a creative person, and they always inspire me to work harder and dream bigger! while I styled this shoot for a specific look, my overall goal was to create a day of fun for my summer teen experience ladies, and remind them they don't have to grow up too quickly; it's okay to have fun and still be "kids"! In fact, I think it's great for all of us (adults included) to let loose and have a little day in the sun every now and again. Our world is moving fast and furious, and it's good to slow down and just smile, right?

I had a styled teepee crafted just for this shoot, and it was the "hub"...where the girls could hang out and spend time with friends, sharing laughs and secrets. I also brought along props like bubbles, and hula hoops (because you are never too old for bubbles!), and fairy lights to represent the childlike awe and wonder of summertime. Of course, a summer session wouldn't be complete without ice cream, because there is no better way to cool off and bring smiles to everyone's faces!

I kept the makeup and hair very light and fresh. I believe in being age appropriate, and it was important to me that these gorgeous girls looked their age and not like a 20-year-old. I gave a bit more latitude to my rising sophomores but still wanted them to look like sophomores!  That is the underlying theme with the Teen Experience at Twelfth+Grace - to highlight the teen's unique personality and interests while making her feel special and beautiful...but to ensure they still look like themselves at this point in time. I also keep their hair fun, fresh, and eliminated anything too "stuffy" or mature. At the core of what I envision for my clients, it's that I want them to feel beautiful and that their natural beauty is highlighted.
